Cosmic Tribe Tarot

QUEEN OF WANDS

Fire Breather

This sister is the Queen of Wands and she is fire. A long time ago she took it from Lightning and brought it back to the tribe. Some feared it, some got burned and some saw the magic it could make. The Queen embodied it. She saw her fears and crawled into them like snakes and slithered into the bright burning future. She sparked the tribe into the nation. Now she sparks the nation into the world. The Queen of Wands burns with the spirit of creation and destruction. In the card, the Queen of Wands bursts into fiery attainment. Flames lick at her body yet she doesn't burn. Her eyes roll back and her tongue sticks out in holy ecstasy. She dances the Hindu deity Kali's dance of creation and destruction and reminds us that all creations destroy the equilibrium preceding them. Our first reaction to the Queen of Wands may be understandably one of fear. What we fear as destruction is merely the attachment to one aspect of the creative process. Life consumes life and burns it as calories in each step of the food chain. Likewise our creative expression requires the transformation of objects or ideas; one form destroyed to create another form. We often fear the transformative power of fire and snakes. And yet her gift is one of intense personal and global power. We have used it to transform the globe and we will use it to transform the universe. There are four snakes pictured. As her wand and royal sceptre, she holds a green snake; green as in regeneration of life. She dances the Kali dance on a striped snake, the most physically manifested snake in the card. It is the symbol of the awakening that happens in the body when the snake uncoils and climbs up the spine to transform experience into pure spirit. Behind her a red snake coils, timeless and ancient in appearance, reminding us that even the powerful Queen is herself fuel for a bigger transformation. Out of her yoni a snake of eyes spirals as the eyes of the universe ever observing our creative cycles.

The Queen of Wands dances with snakes spiraling around and in her. The spiral is the unending vortex of creation and destruction that expands to infinity and contracts into nothingness: over and over, backwards and forwards. Human culture expands as natural diversity contracts. We have harnessed the fire of the gods and goddesses and all around us possibility crackles then vanishes in puffs of smoke. The Queen of Wands dances with a background of flowers with burning centers. What will we do with her power?
