SIX OF PENTACLESA rich man stands, with scales in hand, happily measuring out pentacles. Outside his window, hands clutch and reach but do not grasp the pentacles falling near them. The rich man seems willing enough to give, but does not pay attention to where he is giving. He lets resources fall by the wayside and does not attend to the need directly outside his window. Unlike the Lovers in Major Arcana VI, he is not making balanced choices. He is squandering his gifts while deluding himself that he is charitable.
You give of your resources freely, but are your paying attention to what you are doing? Are you giving people what they need or just what it pleases you to give?
Be aware of proud but dispassionate giving. Giving your child a new computer when he really wants your attention is not a good use of your resources, nor is it helpful to your child.
