XXI - UNIVERSE

Life seeds the universe, sprinkles the milky way - mycelium forms.

In darkest space peopled by stars, the water breaks and a spacechild spills into being. Comets and photons beam exaltation. Moons bring precious gifts. Quasars pulse rhythmically while black holes whistle and planets drum. Now the humble, hardworking Universe can actually see itself. It looks through human eyes and onto the earthjewel in the crown of the cosmos and exclaims - ah ... beautiful. Welcome, friend, to the Cosmic Tribe.

The four sacred elements of air, fire, water, and earth converge from the corners to form our material world. However, life and her conscious offspring cannot evolve without the introduction of the fifth sacred element -spirit. Spirit is represented by a human spacechild. The cosmic eye gaze out from the spacechild's heart, reminding us that love is our highest conscious expression. When he opens his heart, the spacechild opens to the entire Universe, and, within this greatly expanded sense of self, he contains galaxies of limitless potential. He has merged with the cosmic mind. His pose and aura reflect the sublime feeling of being the Universe that created him. In this state, all walls come down. The small contains the very large and distinctions dissolve into grand swirls of energy.

Beneath him a life-green snake crawls out of another galaxy and up the spacechild's spine, grounding him and continuing the cycle of transformation. This is related to the path of spiritual energy called Kundalini as it passes through subtle energy centers called chakras that coincide with different levels of awareness. Above him an infinity halo hovers. He has reached the point of maximum expansion and looks through the grand swirl of limitless possibilities. The Universe is the last card of the Major Arcana - the highest unity of self with the cosmos - but out of this expansion a fool will once again come skipping. The life process represented by the Major Arcana will repeat itself again and again throughout this life and into the next.

Divinatory Meaning

Should the Universe choose you in a reading, rise up out of yourself; expand to the farthest limits of your consciousness. Can you feel the beauty, the wonder, the fragility of your existence? Find your experience of awe and honor it. What cycle in you is reaching fruition or maximum expansion? Do you understand the link between your personal evolution and the universe? Expand, contract, expand, contract, breathe in, breathe out, and begin to see the biggest possible picture. When you expand, remember your smaller self so you can find your way home. When you contract, remember your bigger self to sort through feelings of disconnection. You are the eye of the awakened Universe. There is nothing greater than this sublime moment. Live it.
