Cosmic Tribe Tarot

ACE OF SWORDS

Think for Yourself

From the East a cool whistling wind blows the storm clouds away. High in the sky between the sun and the moon, a mighty sword appears. The shamans gathered on a cirrus wisp nearby know their call has been answered. They begin speaking in a mysterious language. None of them has ever spoken this way before. They are amazed at the ease and clarity of their thoughts and expressions. What a wonder to perceive and speak clearly! Surely this gift will revolutionize the planet by enabling us to transfer experience into infinitely expandable self-awareness. And how big this self can be. The shamans watch as it stretches from one end of the cosmos to the other.

In the card a giant sword pierces the air, focusing a beam upward. Its appearance drives the clouds of confusion, doubt, and indecision to the edges of the card. Here at logic's end the clouds are broken up into harm less featherbeds more suitable to summer daydreams than violent storms. Confusion and its cronies are dispersed by the sword, which focuses the awareness of a fully conscious universe. The power of the sword is centered on the sun's reason, which circles its hilt. The cosmic eye looks at us through the sunburst as the universe expresses itself through human reason. But the power of the sword needs an equal commitment from the crescent moon's intuition to guide the sword's beam and to keep it from lapsing into unreason. When reason and intuition harmonize, the sword pierces the orbed crown of expanded awareness. We get it. We see clearly the bountiful and beautiful nature of the cosmos. We perceive the web interconnecting all reality. With words and images we can spread this understanding to a world hungry for knowledge of itself.

Divinatory Meaning

Should the Ace of Swords glow in your reading, yank the sword from the stone, thrust it into the sky, and proclaim your victory for all the world to hear: I think for myself! What doubt, confusion, or indecision could possibly keep you from aligning your reason with your intuition? Whatever your obstacle, the Ace of Swords just sliced it to ribbons. Take this moment, filled as you are with clarity, and make the decision. Banish the doubts and disembowel any confusion. Make a sacred pledge to commit yourself to a course of action. Write it down or share it with a friend and then, in the words of a famous captain, make it so.
